Oh ok, ok, I'll write a post on Valentine's day in Poland. And it won't be about drinking vodka and singing along to Bridget Jones' diary.
All day long I've been noticing beaming young girls tripping about the streets carrying a Single Red Rose.
That's awfully cute. But guys, come on.

The single red rose is so corny, it's almost as if ironic post modernism never happened here… hang on a minute…
On the other hand, it is an excellent method of avoiding the upthrust knee-to-the-knackers maneuver. Polish women tend to be a little 'traditional' in their expectations.
No, I didn't. Mine was much better :)
Aw you soppy old thing you...
Re even half a dozen
Even indeed, any even number, brings luck - but the florist will say it's that bad one. Won't say bad to whom. On the other hand, with odds such as 13 and 17, one'll have to go for 15 or 19. When it comes to big numbers, 33 or 69 are not always safe. And so on. Folk lore, you know.
oops. didn't buy my girlfriend a rose. the idea of having to do something on a specific day because everyone else does it has always left me uncomfortable.
i find romance on a constant low heat is better than one day of furnace-like heat followed by nothing for a year. just a thought.
hope you had fun with whatever you did! :)
