A bad idea

Approaching the bar in Pauza last night I realised I only had small change in my purse and not an awful lot of it.

- I've only got 6 złoty 50- I said to the barman- Can I get a beer for that?

- Żywiec or Pilsner?

- Uhh how much does it cost?

- 7 złotych

- You know I only have 6,50?

- I know

- Żywiec please.

And to think I considered leaving the country...

He was just focussed on getting his hands on your drobny (if you'll pardon the expression) and was therefore unable to think clearly.

Drobny?! Look, small is beautiful, ok?

and Dictor, who tips at the bar?! Come on. I've done this job, remember...

You don't tip at the bar?! Thanks, a lesson a day keeps a dictor good way.

Was that conversation with the barman all in Polish? What do you do in the pub on your own? Read the paper/a book or people watch etc.?

This was in 2008 and my memory isn't that good! I think I was with friends and just went to the bar on my own. I've never actually been to Pauza alone, it's not really that kind of place!

yes the conversation would have been in Polish, ordering a beer is one of the first things you learn...
