Left my beloved Kraków now to set up in Brussels but this is by no means the end of my adventures with Polish. Linguistic confusion and cross-cultural misunderstandings still abound. I'm an interpreter, a translator, a musician, I'm learning to cook again and I miss my dog. I think that's got it covered, more or less.

Teraz jest "I could get used to this" ;]
But that's different! The coat thing is just annoying and uncomfortable, whereas help lugging 20kg+ of suitcase (when I'm already carrying a backpack of about 10kg - I weigh between 55 and 60kg myself) is really appreciated!
Pino, obie te sprawy mają wspólne korzenie. Jeśli jedna z nich odejdzie, druga również zacznie zanikać. Takie zachowanie to nie poszczególne zasady, lecz implikacje zasad ogólnych - wyuczonych z kontekstu (mam nadzieję, że rozumiesz, co mam na myśli - to i tak skrót myślowy, więc nie będzie to wina Twoich zdolności językowych, jeśli nie zrozumiesz).

Is this spontaneous bag carrying really a Polish thing? Don't you get it elsewhere? I'll give such help to people as a matter of course [especially when their body mass-to-bag mass ratio isn't that great ;-)] and I would have assumed this was standard behavior pretty much everywhere, certainly in Brussels with all those high-floor trams and out-of-order escalators... ?:-(
Pinolona, last time a guy in Poland offered to carry my bag up the steps at the train station he also stole my wallet. I'm Polish, so I'm not prejudiced, and funny enough when offering to help he spoke to me with impeccable British accent and told me he was on his way to visit Kraków:-) Should I add that I at the time I was also lugging my two small kids behind me? Needless to say I won't be accepting any similar offers any time soon.
And you can edit the number of I's in the last but one sentence at your own discretion:-))
